Peanut Butter Chips and Jelly Bars Recipe

1 1/2 cupsall-purpose flour (375 mL)
1/2 cupgranulated sugar (125 mL)
3/4 tspbaking powder (4 mL)
1/2 cupcold butter or margarine (125 mL)
1 egg, beaten (1)
3/4 cupsgrape jelly (175 mL)
1 3/4 cupsCHIPITS REESE Peanut Butter Chips, divided (300 g)


    1. Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease 9-inch (23 cm) square baking pan.

    2. In medium bowl, mix flour, sugar and baking powder; cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in beaten egg until blended.

    3. Press half of crumb mixture onto bottom of prepared pan. Stir jelly slightly; spread evenly over crust. Sprinkle 1 cup (250 mL) of the peanut butter chips over jelly. Stir remaining peanut butter chips into remaining crumb mixture; sprinkle over top.

    4. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

    Makes about 16 bars.
